
Kigen Chelimo, CFA
Kigen is a Principal at Open Capital and brings a decade of experience leading project teams working with public and private sector organizations to refine strategies and raise funding.
Kigen has significant experience supporting organizations through deal structuring and fundraising, including building blended finance partnerships. Kigen leads Open Capital’s work to unlock financing for Ugandan businesses under the USAID-funded Strategic Investment Activity (SIA) and is also designing and implementing a $100M working capital financing facility for solar system distributors across Africa.
Kigen led Open Capital’s deal structuring work on a GBP 70M FCDO-funded program to attract funding into climate-resilient infrastructure and value chain projects in Kenya. He also led work for a currency swap hedge service provider to design and structure a local currency hedge subsidy facility.
Kigen joined Open Capital from Sanlam Investments, an investment management firm with >USD 3 B in assets under management across sub-Saharan Africa. Kigen holds an M.Sc. in Mathematical Finance and is a CFA charter holder.
