
George Odo
George Odo is a Senior Partner at the AfricInvest Group and the MD for its East Africa office, overseeing the operations in the Eastern & Southern Africa region.
George has been at the forefront of the private equity industry in East Africa and was a founding member and director of the East Africa Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EAVCA). Since AfricInvest Group started its activities in East Africa over 15 years ago, George has led investments into and exits from several sectors including banking, insurance, education, FMCG and health. These include Family Bank, UAP, Kiboko Group (Abacus), Britam Holdings, Silafrica Packaging and AutoXpress amongst others, deploying over $150m of private capital into the region.
Furthermore, George has been at the helm of AfricInvest’s fundraising efforts for a number of its funds and vehicles, and has raised capital from East and pan-African based sovereign funds, development institutions, family offices and pension funds.
George has also served on several boards as a non-executive director in various industries including Agribusiness, Micro finance, Banking, Insurance, Health, Education, FMCG and International Development, and as an independent director with the Danish Refugee Council, Mayfair Bank Kenya, KCB Group (KCB Foundation), amongst others.
Over the past decade George has been invited to speak at numerous conferences, share insights to shape regulation of the private investment sector, offered training at academic institutions, and continues to be a key pillar in the private equity landscape and ecosystem.
