
Dennis Otatiina
Dennis is a Partner at Dentons in Uganda. He leads the Corporate and Commercial practice group and was the firm’s founding Managing Partner up to July 2023.
Dennis has over 13 years’ experience advising clients on financings, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and capital markets transactions in Uganda and across the East African region. He recently advised on the establishment of the first private equity fund domiciled in Uganda and he routinely advises local and international funds on their investments in market-leading Ugandan businesses.
He provides flexible, innovative solutions to his clients while complying with regulatory controls, avoiding risks, and closing deals quickly, efficiently, and successfully. Throughout his career Dennis has advised investors, funders, and corporates in structuring domestic and cross-border corporate loan transactions, as well as corporate reorganizations and debt restructurings. He has extensive industry knowledge in the financial services, fintech, agriculture, manufacturing, and retail sectors.
He also assists a number of clients with real estate, intellectual property, trademark, immigration, and general corporate advisory matters, with particular expertise in insolvency and receivership matters.
Dennis is a frequent speaker at numerous legal and business conferences (on private equity and investment solutions) and is a registered insolvency practitioner and a notary public in Uganda.
