Roeland Donckers
Roeland Donckers is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of hands-on experience in creating and growing finance solutions in emerging markets. He started an impact investment company that built in-house several SMEs from the ground up in agro(-processing) and light manufacturing; he began a microfinance company from scratch with a unique rural credit methodology and successfully exited after 5 years; and started and managed a TA business in parallel.
In 2016, Roeland co-founded iungo capital to address the financing gap for the smaller SMEs in the East African missing middle. iungo capital is a sector agnostic evergreen that provides mezzanine debt to SMEs that seek up to USD 500k in a first round; local business angels are invited to co-invest on a deal by deal basis and share their networks and expertise. “iungo xl”, an independent TA partner, provides the necessary support, not only post-investment, but already pre-investment preparing the SMEs for due diligence and investment. Roeland holds an MBA from IE Business School, a MSc in International Relations from Ghent University, and a MSc in Behavioral Science from LSE.
